Targeted in the Desert
Contemporary Inspirational Suspense Novel by Dana Mentink
Following a traumatic experience, Felicia Tennison is ready to have a new beginning in her life. Her life, though, becomes more complicated when a woman, Keira Mattingly, reaches out to her to discuss a personal matter. Felicia does not know what Keira wants to discuss with her, but she expects it has to do with her biological parents (Felicia is adopted). Before she can meet with Keira, she is killed leaving behind a little girl whose life is in danger. With the help of Sheriff Jude Duke (Felicia’s ex-boyfriend), Felicia protects the little girl as her and Jude hide from a dangerous man. Throughout this experience, Jude and Felicia grow closer, causing them to rethink their past relationship.
At first, I found the case surrounding this novel to be perplexing and questioned if it was believable. However, as the novel progressed, and the case started to become more clear, it began to make sense. Although, I do believe this mystery was interesting, the author’s previous books (this is #6 in the series) were better in terms of the mystery. On the other hand, I thought the romance was well done.
