Mara Gilmore has been on the run as a fugitive for seven months. The problem is that she has been falsely accused of a double homicide. Mara is a crime tech for the Pacific Northwest K-9 Unit, so it has been extremely difficult for her to see her colleagues investigate her. But now, they know she is innocent and Officer Tanner Ford is headed to her remote location to bring her back to Olympia, Washington to testify against the real killer. The problem is that the real killer is hunting down Mara to kill her and prevent her from testifying. The novel encompasses the long trek Tanner and Mara must go on to get back to Olympia while being hunted down. To make matters worse, they have to do all of this in the middle of multiple snow storms in frigid temperatures.
I really enjoyed this novel, particularly the two main characters. Both Tanner and Mara are introverts trying to deal with the growing romantic feelings between them. I am an introvert as well and I rarely see this character trait in Christian fiction, so it was a nice surprise. Temperatures where I currently live have only dipped slightly, so I have not experienced really cold temperatures yet. But the passages describing the weather and cold they had to trek through made me glad that I did not live in Washington.
The suspense kept me glued to the book. The romantic journey for the main characters was just as thrilling. And of course, Tanner’s dog, Britta, was a joy to read about, especially when he showed affection to his owner and Mara. I highly recommend this novel.

Snowbound Escape is such a great book! I read the eARC several months ago and yet so many scenes and conversations remain vivid in my mind! So very good!
