Kate Montgomery has only recently awoken from her coma. Her memory is still fuzzy and her life has been put on hold. She is now in hiding in Montana and being protected by the Rocky Mountain K-9 Unit. The unit is looking for a kidnapped baby, Chloe, and Kate almosted died in a car accident when Chloe was kidnapped. Kate was a good friend to Chloe’s biological mother. Since Kate is a witness who survived, whoever kidnapped Chloe is trying to kill her. As a result, one of the unit’s agents, Lucas Hudson, is assigned to keep Kate safe. They relocate to an isolated cabin where Kate continues to experience memory flashbacks and Lucas is alert to tresspassers to the cabin who want to hurt Kate, which continues to happen.
During their stay at the cabin, Lucas and Kate start to develop feelings for one another. Lucas tries to fight it; he was previously married and he does not want to make the same mistake again. Kate is dealing with many psychological issues due to the trauma of the accident that led to Chloe’s kidnapping. She wonders if she is really ready for a relationship, despite her attraction to Lucas.
The mystery was intriguing. And I felt the romance was very sweet and heartwarming. I highly recommend this book.
