The second new subsection of my Substack is called Murder, She Revisited. While I have always loved mysteries, I am very picky about them. I am not a huge fan of contemporary mysteries. They are either too bogged down in procedure, dark, or too easy to figure out. When it comes to television, my favorite mystery series was Murder, She Wrote. After the show ended (and perhaps when it was still on at least early on in the book series), they developed a novel series based on the television show. Writer Donald Bain wrote the series for awhile. He passed away not too long ago, but the series was taken up by a group of other writers. The newest book comes out on November 2nd, which is book 54 in the series.
I read a great amount of Christian fiction and historical/political nonfiction. It is good to read something light and fun to have some balance. So, every month, I will do a review of one novel in the Murder, She Wrote series. I am not going to be doing this in numerical order; instead, I am going to pick a theme each month. For instance, the novel I am reading for this month (Trick or Treachery- book #14) is about Halloween. This review will be published on Halloween. I have started reading it already and I am actually enjoying it. This particular novel takes place in Cabot Cove and has some of the regular characters like Mort and Seth. So, I am glad that I decided to do this. It feels like I am watching the television show again, but with new episodes.
