Bounty hunters Hayley Ryan and Jack Colter have joined forces to take down a bail jumper. It is a challenge at first. Both bounty hunters work for rival companies and they are very competitive. But they are able to work together to arrest the bail jumper. However, while they are doing this, they come across evidence to suggest that Kris Ridge, a bail jumper (who has committed other heinous crimes) is living in Blue Mountain, Idaho, which is where most of the novel takes place. Kris Ridge has been a major target for many bounty hutners. The local police force seems relunctant for Jack and Hayley to get involved, but they do anyway. Throughout their investigation, they start to wonder why Kris Ridge has been living years in Blue Mountain without anyone knowing. Was he that elusive or are there courrpt people on the police force?
This novel is also a romance. Jack is in his forties and previously married for a short time while he was a marine. He has been set on living a life alone, but he is having trouble denying his feelings for Hayley. On the other hand, Hayley is in her late twenties. Despite the age difference, she is also having a difficult time denying her feelings for Jack.
I absoulutely love this novel. I actually liked the age difference between Jack and Hayley. It allowed them to bring different perspectives to the story and they had great chemistry. It was also an interesting thriller with plenty of twists in the end.
